Located east of San Francisco, Danville is a dense suburban town tucked in the oak hills of the bay. The town has a countryside atmosphere while still providing commuters a quick trip to the liveliness of San Francisco. Amazing restaurants serving top-end cuisine call Danville their home.

Established in 1854, Danville has a long history in San Francisco and continues to have a thriving downtown and tight-knit community. The area features excellent outdoor recreation and wineries. This laidback atmosphere makes it a perfect place for retirees, while the highly-rated schools also make it suitable for families.

Danville and the surrounding areas hold fun annual events throughout the entire year. Several parks dot Danville and the surrounding areas, along with Mount Diablo and the Diablo Foothills Regional Park just to the east.
 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

A favorite local restaurant is Esin Restaurant & Bar. This upscale tavern serves classic American dishes using natural and local ingredients. Patrons will take delight in the local Dixon lamb sugo and the Snake River Farms wagyu beef burger alongside an ice-cold beer.

The Peasant and the Pear is an amazing dining experience serving mouth-watering food in a cozy environment. The menu has a wide range of dishes, giving guests a unique option for lunch or dinner.

It wouldn’t be California without having choices of great wine. To the north, in Walnut Creek, is the Shadowbrook Winery, serving fantastic wine made from locally-grown grapes. Many of their wines have received awards and are highly rated.

Anyone looking for a game of golf can find a great course in the neighboring community of San Ramone at Canyon Lakes Golf Course. The 18-hole course is a bit challenging but fun for all who participate. Not only does Canyon Lakes have an excellent golf course, but they also have a brewery where they serve craft beers in their restaurant.

Blackhawk Plaza, adjacent to the Blackhawk Country Club, offers upscale dining, shopping, and a unique gathering place for special events. The outdoor setting and Mediterranean styling offer a lush and pleasant atmosphere for an afternoon of retail therapy.
 

Things to Do

In June, the Danville Summerfest brings tons of local businesses to provide great food, drinks, and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Performers and musicians play live music, while the kids can enjoy the zones designed specifically for them.

Several local artists display their handcrafted artwork at the Danville Fall Crafts Festival. Visitors can find all sorts of fine art, from wooden furniture to jewelry. Eventgoers will find music, food, and wine galore, making it much more lively than the usual craft fair.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love spending the day at Sycamore Valley Park, where there’s a large playground for children, a jogging path that winds through the park, and a reflection pool with a waterfall. There is also a large picnic area that can accommodate up to 65 people for fun family gatherings.

History lovers will enjoy the Blackhawk Museum, which has displays from all over the world. They also have a unique car museum with rare classics and one-off automobiles. There is a lot you can learn from their Spirit of the Old West and Art of Africa galleries.
